Tips for FUN family photos

My biggest tip for family photos… ready?!

I swear by it 100% of the time.

Let kids be kids. Make space for curiosity, play & emotion. Embrace the silly. Take part in the play. You’ll make memories and receive so many fun candids that you’ll cherish forever, as well as some classic family portraits that will feel much more natural than forcing a wiggly kid to smile when they want to chase the butterflies. ✨🦋👣


ACTIVITES TO PLAY/DO:

  • Tag

  • I spy

  • Swinging (just be careful on not holding onto joints to be safe)

  • Picnic

  • Pretend to be animals

  • Follow the leader

  • Statue

  • Red light, green light

  • Coloring/painting


What are some things you could bring to your session that would make for a successful photoshoot?

  • Snacks/treats

  • Water (especially in the summer!!!)

  • Favorite toys/stuffed animal

  • A ball to kick around

  • Towel/blanket to sit on

  • Books

  • Binkys/comfort items

  • Umbrella, jacket and rainbow boots if rain is in the forecast and you want to splash in puddles

  • Silly hats and glasses (to lighten the mood)

  • Disposable cameras for the kids to take photos with during the session

  • Extra layers incase it’s cold!

  • Arts and craft sets
